Worle FC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Benn Watson and Benji King as joint First Team Managers.
Background: Benn Watson
Benn has a wealth of experience in football coaching, starting his journey with various clubs in the Bristol area. He quickly moved into coaching roles, including Assistant Manager positions at AFC Brislington and Highridge United. At Highridge, Benn enjoyed a highly successful tenure, achieving promotion to the Somerset County League in his second season and assembling a strong, competitive side. After leaving Highridge, Benn briefly served as Assistant Manager at Banwell before hearing about the opportunity at Worle FC. "When I heard about the Worle position, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to settle and build another successful team!"
Background: Benji King
At just 19 years old, Benji has already made a significant mark in coaching and football analysis. His experience includes stints with fourth-tier Cardiff City LFC, now Gwalia United, during a league title-winning season. Additionally, Benji has worked with Bridgwater United and held roles at Hutton FC and youth football programs. "I’m ready to bring fresh ideas and a new philosophy to Worle FC, aiming to deliver entertaining and successful football," Benji says.

What qualities do you bring to the role?
Benn: I am a calm and methodical coach who thrives on challenges. I believe in continuous improvement and fostering a unified approach to achieve success. My focus is on building a cohesive team, ensuring that everyone understands their role and works together effectively.
Benji: I bring fresh, innovative ideas and a passion for the game. My experience in coaching and analysis allows me to introduce a tactical approach that focuses on both entertainment and results. I am deeply committed to building strong relationships with players and promoting a unified, team-oriented environment.
What qualities do you look for in your players?
Benn: Work ethic is crucial—players must demonstrate dedication and commitment to both training and matchday performances. Fitness and determination are key elements in competing at the highest levels in the Somerset Prem.
Benji: I seek players who show determination and the willingness to play for the club. Every player must give their best effort, and I aim to help them reach their full potential in a collaborative environment.
Do you anticipate making changes to the squad?
Benn: Our approach involves giving every player the opportunity to prove themselves. While maintaining the current squad, we aim to add a few fresh talents to strengthen the team and support progression at both the First Team and Reserve levels.
Benji: We are open to giving players a fair chance, while introducing new faces to enhance the quality and depth of the squad. This will allow us to maintain a strong competition for places and support the overall development of the club.
What are your expectations for the first team this season?
Benn: Our primary objective is to avoid relegation. Following this, we aim to use pre-season to build a solid foundation for future success, laying the groundwork for a stronger, more competitive team.
Benji: Our immediate goal is staying in the Somerset Prem. Beyond that, we aim to establish a solid structure for the next season, ensuring that Worle FC competes at a high level and makes a lasting impact in the league.
